COVAP and Innogando: 3 curiosities about the digitalization agreement

You may be wondering, how is it possible for a startup to get support from a giant like COVAP? And as we do not want to leave you in suspense, we bring you all the curiosities of how Innogando got here, and also of the phase in which our agreement is currently, with the recent launch of the project Ganaderos Altavoces.

Through this post we will try to calm your curiosity, telling you how the journey has been:

Innovating from North to South

One of the biggest challenges when it comes to growing as a Startup is not only the lack of funding, but also the scarcity of large companies that recognize the potential, that capture and accompany them, trust their proposals and offer real opportunities.

In 2022 COVAP launched an open innovation program called GEN_ , which promoted Startups as part of its innovation and modernization strategy. This project encouraged and challenged to accompany the Cooperative in the process of revolutionizing the agri-food system. And when we heard about this opportunity to let them know about our technology and work, we said: Let’s go for it!

We presented ourselves with an innovative proposal, applied to the pig world, but based on our RUMI, the system that improves the profitability of livestock farms and responds to the real needs of modern livestock farming. After much effort and hard work, the result could not have been better: Innogando was proclaimed the winner!

It was very exciting news! That the Cooperativa Ganadera del Valle de los Pedroches, a leader in the cattle and dairy sector, is aware of the innovation that is being carried out for precision livestock farming and decided to get involved in the project to continue advancing side by side, is, to say the least, a reason to rejoice.

Back to the North – In good company

Our team’s participation in GEN_ was just the beginning, since the Cooperative then moved north (not literally, of course) and COVAP became a shareholder of Innogando, which already included Zendal, a biotechnology group that researches and develops vaccines for animal and human health.

The Cooperative trusted in Innogando’s capacity for work and innovation for the future, and above all, it trusted in the current system for monitoring cows in real time and GPS, which is already improving the profitability and quality of life of farmers, which is also a priority for them.

As for us, it is a pleasure to be able to carry out what we have come to do as an Agrotech company: to provide solutions to extensive and non-extensive livestock farms, helping them to improve their management and control of their livestock.

Cattlemen Loudspeakers – Hands to Work

If you follow Innogando in networks (you have them at the end of the article, just in case) you will have seen that recently there started to be a movement of RUMIs in the South, and yes, we admit it, we are guilty of it.

The first firm step in the materialization of the agreement with COVAP has been through this project of Ganaderos Altavoces, which aims to digitize their livestock farms, specifically a total of 5 extensive livestock farms. 250 RUMI devices, with their corresponding antennas with LoraWan technology, have already begun to monitor and locate livestock in Andalusia, Castilla La Mancha and Extremadura.

Specifically, these farms are located in Navalajeta, Pedroche, El Baldío, Cobatillas, Los Cerros de Emilio and La Brujera, all of them dedicated to beef cattle and selected for their potential to become technology prescribers, hence the name of the project.
